
As they celebrate another
year of helping kids bring back those smiles, the telecommunications giant is
working hand-in-hand with the organization to achieve the goal of providing an
estimated 1,500 cleft surgeries and at least 1,300 dental treatments.
Notable figure of 4,000 kids are born with
cleft conditions in the Philippines. With the help of this new Android app,
Operation Smile volunteers can take patients’ photos, key in pertinent
information and send it to a central web-based system where specialists can
later access. Once doctors access the said information, they can make an
initial diagnosis and provide initial therapy to prepare patients for a scheduled
treatment.
A series of missions will be done in
various cities in the country as Operation Smile is celebrating its 30th
year. Medical missions will be done in Naga, Cebu, Cavite, Cagayan de Oro,
Koronadal, General Santos, Pampanga and Manila.
