
Barnes & Noble has been so competitive in terms eReader and eBook selling. Developed five kinds of NOOK devices or eReader but now their only down to four NOOK devices since they stopped producing the NOOK 1st edition.

Specifications of NOOK Simple Touch
Worry about the weight?
NOOK Simple Touch is only 7.48 ounces, you can say that it is much lighter than a physical book. Height is 6.5 inches, Width is 5.0 inches and Depth is only 0.47 inches.
How about the Display?
It uses the world’s most advanced E-Ink Pearl display with 6-inch touchscreen. It is 25% much faster page turns and 80% less flashing than any other eReaders you have known. You can also change the font size and font style on the text according to your preference, available 7 font sizes and 6 font styles. The resolution is 800x600.
Battery Concern?
Worry no more in battery life concern, in just one charged NOOK Simple Touch can read up to 2 months with wireless off based on a half hour of daily reading. Charging time is approximately 3 ½ hours from a wall outlet or from your computer using the adapter.
Memory?
NOOK Simple Touch has 2GB, so it can hold up to 1,000 eBooks. If the device is already partitioned, it has 1.750GB of Secure Data storage for the operating system and B&N content and 250MB of Personal storage for movies, pictures, music, etc… Additionally, you can expand up to 32GB of space using the external SD card slot.
What’s the Connectivity?
It can connect via Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g/n). Plus FREE Wi-Fi in all Barnes & Noble store and 24,000 AT&T hotspots nationwide.
What a About the Supported File Types?
The supported file types of NOOK Simple Touch for eBooks are ePub and PDF. For graphics, it supports JPG, GIF, PNG and BMP.
Price?
You may want the NOOK Simple Touch but the only disadvantage is unable to read in the dark room. But this case was solved when the NOOK Simple Touch with GlowLight released in the market. It is perfectly designed for bedtime reading and breakthrough technology that creates a soft glow optimized for low light reading. The GlowLight turns on instantly and adjusts easily with a touch.
Battery Concern?
Same as NOOK Simple Touch can read up to 2 months with wireless and GlowLight OFF based on a half hour of daily reading. And will last up to 1 month on a single charged with GlowLight ON. Charging time is approximately 3 ½ hours from a wall outlet or from your computer using the adapter.
Price?
The price might be a little higher than the NOOK Simple Touch since it was upgraded.

NOOK Color
NOOK Color is the first Colored eReader from Barnes & Noble. It has the world’s most advanced VividView 7 inches touchscreen. Not limited in reading NOOK Books, upgraded to play NOOK Apps like Scrabble, Word with Friends, Angry Birds and more. Can read NOOK Magazines, NOOK Comics and NOOK Book with Enhanced Edition. You can also watch movies & TV shows from the Netflix app.

Measurement?
NOOK Color weight is 15.8 ounces and the depth is 0.48 inches. The height is 8.1 inches and the width is 5.0 inches, just perfectly for your hand.
Screen Display?
Has a high resolution display 1024 x 600, with 169 pixels per inch. NOOK Color also has 16 million+ colors on IPS display and 7-inch VividView Color Touchscreen. Improve with the full lamination process reduces glare to read indoors or outside.
Available Fonts?
NOOK Color has 8 text sizes and 6 font styles that able to change the background color, line and margin spacing.
Dictionary?
Has a built-in Merriam-Webster’s Dictionary, Eleventh Edition. So if you find a word that is hard for you to understand, you can easily look up the word in the NOOK Color.
Web?
Unlike the NOOK Simple Touch, NOOK Color has a web browser where you can surf in the Internet. You also have the option to disable the web browser. Can stream videos like in Youtube.com via Adobe Flash Player.
Email?
You can set up an email via Email App to check and send email from one inbox. Available POP and IMAP webmail, so that’s include Yahoo, Gmail, Hotmail and more.
Connectivity?
Can connect to Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g/n) and able to access FREE Wi-Fi in all Barnes & Noble stores.
How About the Supported File Types?
NOOK Color supports a lot of file types, for eBook file it can load ePub (including Non or Adobe DRM) or PDF from your computer or SD card. Some documents supported are: CBZ, XLS, DOC, PPT, TXT, DOCM, XLSM, PPTM, PPSX, PPSM, DOCX, XLX and PPTX. Watch videos in MP4 format, or Adobe Flash Player. Load photos in these format: JPG, GIF, PNG, BMP. Can play audio in MP3, MP4 and AAC.

NOOK Color has 800 MHz TI processor with 512 MB RAM.
Battery Life Concern?
Battery life will depend on the activity you make. But it can read up to 8 hours with wireless off. You can charge from the wall outlet using the Power Adapter and USB Cable. Charging time is approximately 3 hours.
Memory?
NOOK Color has a 8GB built-in memory, so it can hold up to 5,000 eBooks from Barnes and Noble. 5GB reserved for Barnes and Noble content, 1GB for sideloaded content and 2GB is for OS, features, software updates and additional apps.
NOOK Apps?
Has a pre-loaded NOOK Apps like Pandora Internet Radio, Crossword, NOOK Friends, Chess, Media Gallery and Email
NOOK Tablet

Usually a 16GB, but now has an available 8GB for much cheaper price.

Light & Handy?
NOOK Tablet is much ligher and handy than the NOOK Color. It only has 14.1 ounces in weight, 8.1 inches in height, 5.0 inches in width and 0.48 in depth.

NOOK Tablet supports all the supported files in the NOOK Color. Below are the additional supported files of the NOOK Tablet that NOOK Color does not support.

NOOK Tablet with 8GB built-in memory has 1GHz TI OMAP4 (dual-core) processor with 512MB RAM. While the NOOK Tablet with 16GB has 1GHz TI OMAP4 (dual-core) processor with 1GB RAM.
Extra-Long Battery Life?
Can last up to 11.5 hours of reading or 9 hours of video.
Memory?
The NOOK Tablet 8GB has 5GB for content; of which 1GB is reserved for NOOK Store content, the 2GB is for OS, features, software updates and pre-loaded apps. While the NOOK Tablet–16GB has 13GB for content; of which 12GB is reserved for NOOK Store content, 1GB for sideloaded content like your photos, screensaver and more. The remaining is for the OS, features, software updates and pre-loaded apps. You can also expand the storage up to 32GB with microSD card.
Pre-Loaded Apps?
Netflix & Hulu Plus are pre-loaded apps in the NOOK Tablet that NOOK Color does not have.
