How to Purchase Movie Tickets using Siri

Smartphones are indeed living up its name. They’re called smart because they can do a lot of things like being a passbook or even a tour guide. Now Apple’s iOS devices allow you to book movie tickets right at the comfort of your home using your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch. Watch a trailer, read a movie synopsis, reserve seats and purchase tickets ­— all these and more are just a flick away. Let your fingers do the talking! Check out these steps on how you can purchase tickets with Siri’s help using the Fandango app.

1. First you need to make sure your Apple device is already updated to iOS 6.1. This new update enables Siri, your personal voice assistant on iOS, to purchase tickets right on your device. To check if you have the latest update go to Settings menu.

2. You also need to download the Fandango Movies app on your iOS device. Click here to view the app info. Take note that this is only applicable to U.S users.

3. If you already have Fandango on your device, create an account for a hassle free transaction.

4. Now bring Siri up on your device by pressing the Home button and you’ll hear two quick beeps. You’ll see “What can I help you with?” on your screen.

5. Tap that “i” button beside the phrase. Then scroll down to the movie example. And a list of movie inquiries example will appear on your screen.

6. Press that microphone icon and start asking Siri about current movies in your nearby movie theaters. You can ask a specific movie schedule and Siri will provide a list of available movies within that time frame.

7. You can also view synopsis of movies when you press a movie title on the list. And when you click on the Play Time link below the synopsis page, you’ll be routed to the next page where you can purchase tickets using the Fandango app. It will then launch the said app.

8. Once it launched the said app, there you can complete your transaction. Presto! All you need to do then is go to the ticket taker to have your device scanned with “Mobile Ticket” and your all set for a popcorn movie date.
