With millions logged in on Facebook daily, this social networking giant is working on a job postings board on its site that will launch later this summer. It will make jobs postings by third party providers available in one place and further add a searchable database of jobs for jobseekers to browse, as Forbes reported.
Well, it might
have taken the idea from their recruitment apps like BranchOut, JobVite,
Work4Labs and Glassdoor. Potential jobseekers might have reflected basing on
these apps popularity as it attracted millions of users in months. And Facebook
is partnering with them to mobilize their plan and come up with a more
comprehensive social recruitment solution.
This could be another source of revenue for Facebook as it lures in
companies to post their ads with them since it takes pride with its popularity
and broader demographics.
Based on Forbes article Facebook could overtake LinkedIn in terms of job postings. Facebook is said
to have more than 900 million monthly active users while LinkedIn has only
close to 150 million. Companies, recruiters and third-parties might set their
eyes on Facebook if this job posting board will go well. However, the numbers
might not serve it right. Facebook is a social networking site and LinkedIn is
for job networking. They shouldn’t be compared as they cater to different
users. And above all, who would just want their social life to be linked to its
professional life? Would you dare allow
companies to view your profile and judge your eligibility by what they merely
see on your photo albums? Would you? Facebook might need a serious talk over
this. After all, they become who they are because Facebook is Facebook.
