When you’re online doing your piece of research, did it ever come across your mind on what’s the most visited website? Well, it won’t be shocking for me if Google.com is the world’s leading website.
According to an article on Exploredia, indeed Google tops the list with a net worth of $5.5 billion. Internet users mostly came from Asia with 42%, followed by Europe with 24%, 14% North America, 10% Latin America and the Caribbean, 6% in Africa, 3% in The Middle East and 1% from Australia. Now let’s check out on what websites made it to the list.
1. Google
Daily Visitors : 191,857,050
Net Worth: $ 5.5 billion
With
millions of search queries keyed in on Google search, it’s no wonder why this
search engine giant made it to top one. Owned by Google Inc., this web search
has been so far locked in on that number one spot for years. Google Search was
originally developed by Larry Page and Sergey Brin in 1997.
2. Facebook
Daily Visitors: 168,117,950
Launched in February 2004, this social networking
service became the hottest trend for young and adults nowadays. Owned by
Facebook Inc., this website allows users to create a personal profile, add
other users to their friend’s list, exchange instant messages and even do video
call. The founder of the site got the name from a colloquial name for the book
handed to students at the start of the academic school year by university admin
in USA with a purpose for students to get to know each other.
Daily Visitors: 118,256,600
Net Worth: $3.4 Billion

4. Yahoo
Daily Visitors: 94,128,650
Net Worth: $2.7 Billion
Like Google Search, Yahoo search is also a search engine
owned by Yahoo, Inc. It started as a web directory of other websites organized
in hierarchy then evolved into being a search portal in 1990’s. On July
29,2009, Microsoft and Yahoo announced their partnership when Microsoft
inked a deal for Bing to power Yahoo
search.
5. Baidu
Daily Visitors: 40,567,450
Net Worth: $ 1.1 Billion
The first four on the list are all owned by American
companies. Baidu Inc. is owned by a Chinese company based in Baidu Campus in
Haidian Distrcit in Beijing, China which was founded in January 2000. This
company became the first Chinese company to be part of NASDAQ-100 index. Baidu
is a Chinese language search engine for websites, audio files and images. It’s
more likely the Chinese counterpart of Google.
Other websites that made it to the top 10 includes
multilingual encyclopedia Wikipedia,
Microsoft’s Windows Live, China’s
free instant messaging computer program QQ,
online social networking Twitter and online store giant Amazon according to an updated list
from MostPopularWebsites.
