1. Tom Cruise ($75 million)

Tom Cruise tops the list among the highest paid actors in 2012. I envy Tom for his achievements in life, but I empathized for his broken family. With the recent break-up issue with the Dawson’s Creek star Katie Holmes, Tom seemed to be lonely that he can now barely see his adorable Suri. But nevertheless, Tom still seems to be bankable with a new movie in post-production. According to Forbes, Cruise earned a whooping $700 million at the box office worldwide for his movie Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol.







2. Leonardo DiCaprio ($37 million)

Did Titanic ring a bell? Leonardo was well-known for the tragic Titanic movie that played the role of a lover boy named Jack. The said movie held the top spot of movies with highest gross for years. Aside from his boyish charm, his acting prowess secured him the spot of being one of Hollywood’s most bankable and in demand actor. His 2010’s Inception grossed $825 million at the global box office. Not to mention a long list of nominations and awards tagged along his name. And oh, he’s one of the few celebs who can demand for a $20 million paycheck.







2. Adam Sandler ($37 million)

Adam Sandler’s The Wedding Singer is perhaps his most notable movie ever with a popular movie soundtrack “Grow Old with You” sung by Sandler himself. His team up with actress Drew Barrymore was indeed a clique given that they reunited for another movie entitled “50 First Dates”. Adam may grow old with fat checks as he top the list of highest paid celebs. He raked millions of dollars mostly from his comedy movies that always attract movie goers with his affectionate sense of humor. Even if he had a tough year, it still won’t hurt him that much as Sandler brought in $150 million, according to Forbes, on a budget of $80 million for his Jack and Jill movie where he played both Jack and Jill.





3. Dwayne Johnson ($36 million)

Dwayne Johnson’s recognition as “The Rock” led him to acquiring the WWF Championship. In 2012 he came back to WrestleMania XXVIII ring where he beat down another Wrestlemania’s superstar John Cena. The Rock is also on his way of becoming one of Hollywood’s biggest action stars, almost at par with Stallone and Schwarzenegger. He is also known for reviving and saving franchises like the one he did with the Fast and Furious franchise. By joining the Fast Five, Johnson made it the highest grossing film of the series with $626 million. He also pulled in a huge $81 million more to his movie Journey to the Center of the Earth which was originally starred by Brendan Fraser. And the next stop is the second instalment of G.I. Joe. When asked what’s his secret for box office success? “I can kick ass better than anyone on the planet. And I have a decent smile,” he says.



4. Ben Stiller ($33 million)

Ben Stiller never fails to impress the entire cast, the director, and the producer of every movie he does when it comes to showing versatility and commitment. He is considered to be one of the highest paid comedians in Hollywood with a film’s average gross of $73 million. Movies like Meet the Parents and Night at the Museum series brought in huge money for this actor’s bank account. Let’s not forget to mention his famous animated franchise Madagascar which has a gross of $1.6 billion at the global box office making him one of the highest paid celebs.






5. Johnny Depp ($30 million)

Johnny Depp just made a notorious character like a pirate now lovable. Jack Sparrow, whom he portrayed in The Pirates of the Caribbean series, captured the hearts of millions of people from all ages with his humour. He is also known to portray roles which require heavy make-up like in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Alice in Wonderland. Directors and producers hire Sacha Baron Cohen if they want an actor who can effortlessly portray an unorthodox fictional character. To name a few of his works as an actor, his striking performance in Ali G, Borat, and Brüno has gained him a number of nominations. Even if Sacha tops Forbes highest paid actors, he still didn’t make it to the Celebrity 100 list since Sacha seems to be rarely seen in the press and not even visible on social media sites.

Some may know him with his stage name: The Fresh Prince, but Will Smith is not just an actor because he also produces films and raps, yes, he raps. He is a versatile actor who can make you cry ( just like what he did in The Pursuit of Happy-ness), laugh (like the Men in Black and he’s just effortlessly best at this), impressed with his action stunts ( I am Legend) and anything you can think of. His comeback movie Men in Black 3 has grossed $600 million globally. Smith will star in a sci-fi flick After Earth with his son Jayden.

The star of Planet of the Apes, Rock Star, The Italian Job, The Departed, Shooter, Date Night, and the comedy movie Ted— which topped the box office with weekend opening gross of $54 million. Expect this star to jump on top of the list as his January action film, Contraband, earned a remarkable $100 million from a budget of $25 million.

Robert Pattinson tied up with his co-Twilight actor Taylor Lautner and both have acquired their wealth from the Twilight saga. This brokenhearted bachelor has captured the hearts of millions of girls when he played Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. But, his number of fans dramatically increased when he was named Edward Cullen and people now calls him Edward.
