The Tech community is commemorating Steve Jobs’ contribution to the evolution of modern computers and even technology itself on his 1st death anniversary. Apple Inc., which was co-founded by Steve Jobs, had been recently hailed as the most valuable company through its notable innovations which consumers warmly embraces as shown in market shares. Well, so much for the wonders of Apple and Steve Jobs. This new invention might leave you an impression that indeed the late Great Jobs has left a handful of geniuses and even weird thinkers to run the techno world.
Introducing the new Like-A-Hug vest! As I read the article on Slashgear site, it made me wonder why of all things it chose to link Facebook with a vest. The said vest will inflate when wearer receives a “like” on Facebook. Perhaps, you might be rolling your eyes or even raising your eyebrows while reading this. Designed by Melissa Chow at MIT, “The vest inflates when friends “Like” a photo, video or status update on the wearer’s wall,” she wrote. I can't help but imagine a woman walking down the street and then all of a sudden you’ll notice her vest slowly inflating. Just by the thought of it makes it awfully weird, right?
But then, there’s a rather touching logic behind that according to Chow. The inflated vest allows “us to feel the warmth, encouragement, support or love that we feel when we receive hugs.” Now, that’s sweet! And if you think you've got too much hugs (or in short choking with super inflated vest) and want to give back a hug, you can just squeeze and deflate your vest. It will apparently inflate the original sender’s vest. This is better though compared with sending virtual puppies on Facebook.
Could there be anything weirder than this? I’d say this one tops the list. Even ahead of Facebook’s controversial one-billion-user ad – “the chairs”. And the question goes; would you dare spend a dime for this vest? Now, that’s interesting.
