The recently acquired
Google-company hasn’t been known yet for being very timely when it comes to
updating their devices with Android software updates. And seems like they’re keeping
their word when newly reinstated Motorola CEO Dennis Woodside promised, a month
ago, that most Motorola handsets that are released in 2012 will be updated to
Jelly Bean and for devices that don’t get updated before the year ends will
come with a bonus — $100.
But oops! They’re
not just giving away $100 as an apology for not getting a Jelly Bean update. For
you to get that $100 rebate, you’ll need to trade up your Motorola phone to one
of the six recent Motorola phones that includes Atrix HD, DROID RAZR, MAXX HD,
DROID RAZR M, DROID RAZR HD, Electrify 2 and PHOTON Q.

Motorola created
a list for your reference. Now if you don’t see your handset model on the left,
you’ll probably be getting the update soon. But it’s worth thinking though, before
you upgrade your device and avail the $100 rebate, that if you’re currently on
contract, early termination fees will still apply for this Motorola trade up.
Yes, it may sound a little unfair but that’s how it works. To learn more about
the said trade up, visit Motorola’s page. Are you going to trade up or stick
with what you have?
