Google has been
very careful in storing their data. However, for the very first time, Google
opens the door to its secret world where it houses huge servers for all their
data. You can either browse through beautifully captured photos of Google’s
data centers or take a virtual tour on a video posted on YouTube or using
Google’s very own Streetview. It is a big world indeed.
Google unveiled
the website Where the Internet Lives where you can see what’s inside its data
centers. You’ll get to see the high technology behind Google, the people
running it and the various data centers that powers Google’s Gmail, Search and
YouTube, among others.
Urs Hozle,
Google’s Senior Vice President, posted on its official blog, “Very few people
have stepped inside Google’s data centers and for good reason: our first
priority is the privacy and security of your data, and we go to great lengths
to protect it, keeping our sites under close guard.” In fact, only few of its
employees have access to the server floor. Security cameras, fingerprint and
iris scanning are everywhere to secure the area.
In a data center in Georgia these colorful pipes, which carry Google’s trademark color palette, send and receive water for cooling the place. You can also see their means of transpo to get around the facility. They call it the G-Bike. And I bet you’ve noticed the color- it's so Google!

Even the
cables are as colorful as the pipe lines. These cables are organized according
to their color to make technical maintenance a little stress-free.

You’re still
staring at one of Google’s server rooms in Council Bluffs, Iowa. So this is
what makes searching available for us. You'll see huge server boxes in a
115,000 square feet facility.

That Joker
protective mask is just awesome. It’s Google’s Associate Facilities Manager
Jeff Hajer in action in North Carolina data center.

Google houses
some of the world’s most efficient servers. They wouldn’t be called the most
powerful search engine if they don’t have these servers. And if you’re Google,
keeping them all running smoothly is one heck of a task.

Still in Council
Bluffs center, this gigantic antenna receives signal for Google’s Access
Service unit and is the primary source of TV channels that make up Google’s
Fiber TV service.

Think you’re
home? Nope. That is just one of Google’s conference rooms in Hamina, Finland.
And guess what? This room is just right outside a sauna area which is available
for employees. So the perks are totally true!

For more photos,
just take a tour and see what’s inside Google data centers through their
website and check out where the internet lives. I found it at last.
