It seems like YouTube is also doing its spring cleaning like Facebook and parent company Google. In an effort to boost the time users spend on Youtube, videos that are
watched longer by viewers will rise in search ranking. “Less clicking, more
watching” – that’s how YouTube determines who gets the top spot.
On Friday, YouTube posted on its blog that they have made a minor tweak on its site. It says, “We’ve started adjusting the ranking of videos in YouTube search to reward engaging videos that keep viewers watching.” They even added a new time watched report to YouTube Analytics to help “vloggers” track their videos watch time metric.
So if you’re
planning to advertise your videos, make sure that viewers would watch the whole
video instead of abandoning it after clicking. Or if you’re one of those bogus
video creators opting for catchy video title just to lure in viewers and climb to
the top of search results, it definitely won’t work now. YouTube for years have
made online YouTube sensations to Hollywood celebrities like pop singer Justin
Bieber and made Psy's Gangnam Style popular worldwide. With this new ranking feature, YouTube will surely discover more promising
and engaging videos.
