They say that Windows 8 is not really advisable for tech novice due to its not-so-friendly environment. Oh yes, even the shut down button is bit tricky to find when shutting down should be as easy as it was before. But if you've been accessing the shut down button on the start menu with older versions of Windows, on Windows 8 you can access it in few ways. Now if you're thinking on upgrading your pc to Windows 8, learning the basic course (like shutting down) should be taken or else you might end up smashing your pc to shut down for good. Here's how you can shut down your pc on a Windows 8 platform.
Shut Down via the Username
1. On the start screen, tap/click on your username on the upper right hand corner of the screen.
2. You'll see three options, Change account picture, Lock or Sign out. Click on Sign out.
3.Now that you're on the Sign In screen, there's a power button icon the lower right portion. Click on it and there you'll find the shut down option.
Shut Down via the Settings Menu
1. Another way to access the shut down option is by hovering your mouse on that little horizontal icon on the lower right corner. A slide-out menu will then appear.
2. Or to make the slide-out menu appear, just hit on Windows key + C on your keyboard.
3. Click on Settings.
4.And click on the power button. There you can access the shut down button.
Create a Shut down Shortcut
To skip with all these steps, you can somehow create a shutdown shortcut which you can click on your desktop, taskbar or even on your start screen. Here's how you can make your Windows 8 experience a bit hassle-free.
1. On your desktop, right click and go to New.
2. Click on Shortcut.
3. On the box, just type in this command shutdown /s /t 0 and hit on Next.
4. To change the shortcut icon, just right click on the new shortcut and click on Properties.
5. Click on Change Icon and choose your desired icon. Click on Apply and Ok to complete the steps.
6. To pin this icon on your Start Screen, right click and click on Pin to Start.
There you go! Shutting down your pc is just as easy as a click.
